I've been trying to get back into storyboarding, and as an exercise, I tried making boards for songs from broadway. I chose to go with Rent, because... Well, I have a little bit of history with it. I had heard the entire soundtrack a million times over before I ever went to see it performed on stage. In fact, I think I only got to see it on stage just a little bit before the movie came out. As a result, I had formed images and movies in my head that were affected only by the song's lyrics. And of course, they were quite a bit different from what actually ended up on screen or on stage.
So I took one of the songs that I felt was most impactful to me. One of the ones that I had the strongest vision for. And that was Goodbye Love. Here are some of the boards I started:
